Training Log #5

Mental Review
I'm still figuring out how to put my thoughts down, as sometimes I feel I have
too much to write, making me reluctant to update this blog haha. I'm trying to
cut down on the sheer amount of text, and say more in fewer words.
The main things for this log is the modified tai otoshi technique, with the
sleeve hand initially going low instead of high. Another thing is the awareness
that even for my tokui waza, the technique will be slightly or drastically
different depending on the opponent. I need to discover the correct technique
during the match.
Rough Training Notes
Nov14 training session
-learned a different variation of tai otoshi
-for the initial pull, the hand technique changes
-INSTEAD of having the hands extend upward (eg sleeve hand looking at the
clock motion, lapel hand pushing against face or top right corner)
-move a different direction with the hands. left sleeve hand pulls toward
right knee (knee position one step before extending to tai otoshi)
-lapel hand needs exploring. fist extended to face, or morote?
-kind of a hybrid morote/tai otoshi, where the sleeve pull is unique.
the sleeve pull changes the trajectory of the opponent towards more to
your hip/leg, allowing for the tai otoshi leg finish, while the lapel
hand forces the opponent to drop
Nov24 training session
-don't usually train on thursdays, got to mix it up in training style
-went through a lot of body types trying my tokui waza
-realized that my tech changes enough to be significant depending on
the body type of the opponent
-what this means is that there is no one technique that's going to get
me the throw
-during the match, I need to discover what technique works for the
opponent, so I would have to attempt that tech multiple times realistically
before I can be successful
